White-Collar Crime

This graduate course will include an in-depth study of white-collar crime. White-collar crime has generally been a neglected topic in criminology and criminal justice, but it has gained more prominence as scholars recognized the costs associated with white-collar crime and the importance of studying it for prevention purposes. The course will cover a range of topics from the definitional issues and the problems involved in measuring and collecting data on white-collar crime to theoretical explanations and the prevention of white-collar crime. Students will learn to critically assess significant research concerning white-collar crime and understand the practical applications of this research.
