The Master of Music program provides intensive experiences in performance, conducting, jazz studies, or composition as well as courses geared to enhance the student’s knowledge and understanding of the literature of their area of specialization, and a greater understanding of music in general. The M.M. program at Rowan University is for the aspiring musician who wishes to make a career as a jazz musician, classical performer, conductor, or composer or will continue their studies at the Ph.D. or DMA level. Graduates of Rowan's Master of Music program have gone on to major doctoral programs, performing careers, arts leadership positions, and careers as college professors and public school teachers.
The Master of Music: Jazz Studies Online is a part-time program offered in an accelerated format. This degree requires the completion of 32 graduate semester hours or 11 courses. Each course is scheduled in 8 week modules with each week of work starting every Tuesday at 8:00a.m. and ending every Monday at 11:59p.m. (Eastern Standard Time).
The following courses make up the Master of Music: Jazz Studies Online program.
Required Courses: 18 semester hours (s.h.)
Specialization Courses - Group A: 12 semester hours (s.h.)
Specialization Courses - Group B: 2 semester hours (s.h.)
Specialization Courses Group B are waived for active military personnel.

Submitting the Application Form is only the first step to beginning the admission process. All of the required materials listed above must be received on or before the application completion deadline for your desired entry term to be considered for admission to that term. We encourage you to complete the application form and begin submitting your materials at least one month before the deadline indicated.
