M.S. in Nursing: Nurse Practitioner

Rowan University's CCNE accredited Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program was established to meet the need for trained professional health care leaders.

Nurse Practitioner (NP)

The Nurse Practitioner track prepares Registered Nurses (RN) to sit for the specialty certification exam. The certifying agency determines eligibility for the exam. Currently no precertification for exams has been obtained. Students in the Nurse Practitioner track may specialize in Adult Gerontology Acute Care or Family Nurse Practitioner.

Curriculum

The Rowan University Master of Science in Nursing is a part-time program offered in a hybrid format with a combination of fully online courses, face to face classes, and clinical experiences. At the completion of the MSN the graduate will have completed a minimum of 500 clinical hours in the area of the Nurse Practioner track.

Admissions Requirements

The following is a list of items required to begin the application process for the program. There may be additional action or materials required for admission to the program. Upon receipt of the materials below a representative from the Rowan Global Admissions Processing Office will contact you with confirmation or indicating any missing items.

  • $65 (U.S.) non-refundable application fee

  • Bachelor’s degree (or its equivalent) in Nursing from an accredited institution of higher learning

  • Current professional resume

  • Copy of valid CPR card (must be updated every two years and sent the Department of Nursing)

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) with a minimum grade of “C” or better in all nursing subject area courses

  • Official transcripts from all colleges attended (regardless of number of credits earned; presented in a sealed official envelope)

  • Proof of current (U.S) valid RN license (must maintain active New Jersey RN license the duration of the program)

  • Two letters of recommendation from professional sources

  • Personal Malpractice Insurance (required at time of application and must be maintained the duration of the program)

  • Required foundation courses: Comprehensive Health Assessment and Research Applications in Nursing Practice. (the MSN Academic Advisor will determine foundation course equivalencies)

The chart below details available entry terms for the M.S. in Nursing: Nurse Practitioner program as well as corresponding application deadlines. Submitting the Application Form is only the first step to beginning the admission process. All of the required materials listed above must be received on or before the application completion deadline for your desired entry term to be considered for admission to that term. We encourage you to complete the application form and begin submitting your materials at least one month before the deadline indicated.
