The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is offered through the School of Nursing and Health Professions in a fully online format. The BSN post-licensure degree completion program provides registered nurses (RN) with the opportunity to acquire a BSN degree with little interruption to professional or personal obligations. The baccalaureate degree program in nursing at Rowan University is fully accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, 655 K Street NW, Suite 750, Washington, DC 20001, 202-887-6791 (www.ccneaccreditation.org). 

Curriculum

The RN to BSN curriculum includes 120 credits and incorporates all Rowan University requirements for the degree award. Students graduating from an Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) associate degree or diploma program are awarded 30 nursing credits upon matriculation into the program for all pre-licensure nursing courses. Students may transfer up to 90 credits and must fulfill general education requirements of Rowan University, either through the transfer of credits or the completion of courses at Rowan University. Additional coursework may be required, depending upon the amount of credits transferred in to Rowan. This program is offered in  online format and may be completed on a part-time basis.

Courses are scheduled in 7 and 14 week modules with each week of work starting every Tuesday at 8:00 a.m. and ending every Monday at 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time).

Students must fulfill the following general education and Rowan Core Literacy requirements:

Rowan Core Literacy Requirements:
Students must satisfy all six Rowan Core Literacies. A minimum total of 3 credits of coursework is required to satisfy each Literacy.

  • Artistic Literacy (see academic advisor for recommendations)
  • Communicative Literacy (Must be met by the following three courses or their official equivalents: English Composition I, English Composition II, and Public Speaking)
  • Global Literacy (NURS 401 Community Health Nursing: 6 credits)
  • Humanistic Literacy (PSY 01107 Essentials of Psychology: 3 credits)
  • Quantitative Literacy (MAT103 Statistics I: 3 credits)
  • Scientific Literacy (BIOL10210 Human Anatomy and Physiology I: 4 credits and BIOL10212 Human Anatomy and Physiology II: 4 credits)

Rowan Experience Requirements:

  1. Broad Based Literature
  2. Writing Intensive (WI)

*It is strongly recommended that students work with their academic advisor to select the appropriate courses to fulfill program requirements.


Students must also have 30 credits worth of Pre-Licensure Nursing Courses in Transfer.

    Student must complete Mandatory Nursing Exit Survey that is launched by the Nursing Department every semester (fall, spring, summer).

Upon receipt of the materials below a representative from the Rowan Global Admissions Processing Office will contact you with confirmation or indicating any missing items.

  • Completed Application Form
  • $65 (U.S.) non-refundable application fee

  • One official transcript from all colleges attended
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
  • Current licensure or eligibility to be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of New Jersey
