This program creates a formal, credit-bearing training for early childhood leaders and coaches, including but not limited to technical assistance specialists, program directors, master teachers, principals, curriculum and instruction specialists, infant, toddler and child care mentors, consultants and coaches, state and federal early childhood administrators, as well as any other leader in early childhood education field (ages 0-8) who would like to build capacity as a leader guiding quality improvement in early childhood programs, centers, schools and classrooms. Participants will be provided with a Graduate Certification of Early Childhood Coaching and Technical Assistance upon graduation. Potential occupations include technical assistance specialist, director, coach, leader, principal, supervisor and manager in early childhood programs, as well as other leadership positions in the public and private sector within early childhood research and practice.

Teachers in the state of New Jersey may apply to the Certificate of Graduate Study in Early Childhood Coaching and Technical Assistance program through the New Jersey Teacher Outreach Program (NJTOP®). For more information about NJTOP, click here.

The curriculum consists of 5 courses with a distinct focus that will build leadership capacity of early childhood leaders.

  • Letter of recommendation
  • $65 (U.S.) non-refundable application fee
  • Bachelor's degree (or its equivalent) from an accredited institution of higher learning
  • Official transcripts from all colleges attended (regardless of number of credits earned)
  • Current professional resume
  • Statement of professional objectives
  • Minimum undergraduate cumulative GPA of 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale)
  • Early Childhood Leadership Institute Training Certificate (if applicable)
