Editing and Publishing for Writing Certificate of Graduate Study
The Certificate of Graduate Study (COGS) in Editing and Publishing for Writing helps aspiring writers prepare to edit and publish their own work for consumption. Students will acquire a necessary understanding of contemporary editing and publishing procedures in a variety of print and digital environments as well as the discipline and organizational strategies necessary to prepare and submit a variety of types of work for publication. The courses completed for this certificate may be able to be applied to the required coursework in Rowan’s Master of Arts in Writing. For more information on the MA in Writing, click here.
The Certificate of Graduate Study (COGS) in Editing and Publishing for Writing is a part-time program that requires the completion of 9 graduate semester hours (3 courses) which are possible to complete in 3 to 4 consecutive semesters.
Required Courses: 9 Semester Hours (s.h.). Choose three from the following courses.

The following is a list of items required to begin the application process for the program. There may be additional action or materials required for admission to the program. Upon receipt of the materials below a representative from the Rowan Global Admissions Processing Office will contact you with confirmation or indicating any missing items.
Bachelor's degree (or its equivalent) from an accredited institution of higher learning
Official transcripts from all colleges attended (regardless of number of credits earned)
Current professional resume
Typewritten statement of professional objectives
Provide details about the kind of writing you see yourself doing in your professional life or how you might use this program to advance your teaching career. Educational goals beyond the master’s level, if applicable, are also relevant. Try to place your objectives within a context that includes your past experience. Especially given that this is a writing program, use the statement as an opportunity to demonstrate your writing skills.
Two letters of recommendation
While the official Recommendation Form is required, an actual letter from the recommender is preferred.
