Learning Disabilities Certificate of Graduate Study Online
The Certificate of Graduate Study in Learning Disabilities Program (COGS) is designed for teachers who are looking to broaden their knowledge and skills to better serve students with learning difficulties. The goals and objectives for the program include the further development of educational leaders in supporting students, parents, and colleagues in the field. Graduate students complete the COGS in Learning Disabilities with knowledge and skills in the current research on learning disabilities and methods so as to more effectively serve individuals with learning disabilities; and, in this program they are trained to be educational collaborators and leaders, to be change agents in their classrooms, and school districts.

The Certificate of Graduate Study (COGS) in Learning Disabilities is a part-time program offered in a online format. It requires the completion of 15 graduate semester hours (5 courses) which are possible to complete in only 3 consecutive semesters. Courses in this program may be used to satisfy some of the course requirements in Rowan’s Master of Arts in Special Education.
The following courses make up the Learning Disabilities Certificate of Graduate Study Online program. Each course is scheduled in 8 week modules with each week of work starting every Tuesday at 8:00 a.m. and ending every Monday at midnight (Eastern Standard Time).

The following is a list of items required to begin the application process for the program. There may be additional action or materials required for admission to the program. Upon receipt of the materials below a representative from the Rowan Global Admissions Processing Office will contact you with confirmation or indicating any missing items.
Bachelor's degree (or its equivalent) from an accredited institution of higher learning
Official transcripts from all colleges attended (regardless of number of credits earned)
Current professional resume
Typewritten statement of professional objectives:
Describe how you might use this program to advance your career. Educational goals beyond the master’s level, if applicable, are also relevant.
Two letters of recommendation from professional sources
Minimum undergraduate cumulative GPA of 2.75 (on a 4.0 scale)
The applicant must provide proof of appropriate certification as well as a letter of employment confirming the specific dates (not just years) during which the applicant has taught or served the educational community under the appropriate certificate.

The chart below details available entry terms for the Learning Disabilities Certificate of Graduate Study Online program as well as corresponding application deadlines. Submitting the Application Form is only the first step to beginning the admission process. All of the required materials listed above must be received on or before the application completion deadline for your desired entry term to be considered for admission to that term. We encourage you to complete the application form and begin submitting your materials at least one month before the deadline indicated.

Teachers in the state of New Jersey qualify for the discounted tuition rate of $685 per semester hour through the New Jersey Teacher Outreach Program (NJTOP). For more information regarding NJTOP click here.
