Writing and New Media Certificate of Graduate Study

The Certificate of Graduate Study (COGS) in Writing and New Media is intended for professionals in any field that would like to utilize emerging technologies and need to write content for those platforms. Students will increase students' awareness of composing opportunities, theories, and practices that are emerging as a result of the ubiquity of new media technologies and online writing spaces. Students will also learn theories in areas that hold significant import for understanding the implications of new media communication technologies. Admissions Requirements

The following is a list of items required to begin the application process for the program. There may be additional action or materials required for admission to the program. Upon receipt of the materials below a representative from the Rowan Global Admissions Processing Office will contact you with confirmation or indicating any missing items.

  • $65 (U.S.) non-refundable application fee

  • Bachelor's degree (or its equivalent) from an accredited institution of higher learning

  • Official transcripts from all colleges attended (regardless of number of credits earned)

  • Current professional resume

  • Typewritten statement of professional objectives

    • Provide details about the kind of writing you see yourself doing in your professional life or how you might use this program to advance your teaching career. Educational goals beyond the master’s level, if applicable, are also relevant. Try to place your objectives within a context that includes your past experience. Especially given that this is a writing program, use the statement as an opportunity to demonstrate your writing skills.
  • Two letters of recommendation

    • Letters of recommendation should be from professional administrators and include information, which attests to applicant's ability to pursue a graduate degree
