Arts Advocacy and Policy

This course defines public policy relating to the arts and explores the points of view of individuals, communities, and organizations and how they impact the development of governmental policies for the arts. Students examine research to develop a broader framework related to the relevance and importance of the arts in our society. Students will develop an understanding of the relationship between public policy and the arts in the United States. This course focuses on the knowledge and skills needed to craft an effective argument about arts policy, to make a policy recommendation based on research and analysis and to present that argument.
